Backup Your Data Offsite

DVD Disc

If you have a lot of files on your computer that you don't wish to lose, then you should backup that data. Many people have thousands of digital photos that can't be replaced, and wouldn't want to lose those photos. Other's may have financial or personal information that they need to be available at any time. This is why data backup is so important.

Converting Word Documents to PDF for Free

PDF Logo

The PDF document was created by Adobe and has become one of the most widely used file formats online. The advantage this format has over other document formats is that the documents will always be displayed the same on any computer. Many computer hardware and software manufacturers currently use the PDF format to create an electronic copy of their user manuals. Others may use this format to create an ebook.

In order to create a PDF file, you would usually need a tool from Adobe called Adobe Acrobat. Unfortunately, this tool can be expensive for many people. There are other free alternatives that allow you to create a PDF file. One such tool, called PrimoPDF, allows you to convert Microsoft Word documents to PDF for free. In addition, that tool will also allow you to create a PDF document from about 300 different file formats.

Mapping an External Hard Drive to a Directory

External Hard Drive

I have tried using backup services that don't backup data from external hard drives. The problem with this is that many people, including myself, store their data on an external hard drive.

There may be an easy way to make such backup services work with external hard drives. In Windows you can map a hard drive to a directory. This means that when you view the directory you are actually viewing the contents of the external hard drive. The backup service may not know the difference.
